Bankruptcy Software Comparison Shopping?

We were recently presented with a list of questions regarding our BankruptcyPRO® program. It was a good standard shopping comparison on what to ask for those looking for bankruptcy software.

Our answers are below.  If you have additional questions, you are welcome to call us at (210) 561-5300.

Cost of Software (Single User, Multi-User, Chapters, etc.)

You can visit our order page or download an order form to see our prices.

BankruptcyPRO license prices vary depending upon what chapters you order and the number of users. If you choose to start with a 10-case license, that purchase will be credited toward the full license when you upgrade.

In regard to Chapter 13, if the jurisdiction where you practice is listed in the Local Plans section, you would be charged for the local plan form. If it is not on that list, then you would pay the generic plan price.

However, when you license Chapter 13, you get a really strong plan calculator and have access to any of the plans programmed. They are not sold as add-ons. Updates and support for one year are included in the initial license.

Cost of any annual maintenance or updates

The annual maintenance fees are determined by the number of users you license and are: $100 for a 10-Case License; $250 for a Full License; each additional workstation is $100. You can also find this information on the second page of the order form.

Do you automatically download credit counseling certificates, if so which companies do you work with?

BankruptcyPRO has recently added an interface with Start Fresh Today so you can order, track and receive credit counseling and debtor education certificates directly into BankruptcyPRO.

Do you automatically download credit reports, if so which companies?

In regard to credit reports, we have interfaces with CIN Legal Data Services, Suite Solutions, and Corelogic Credco. BankruptcyPRO will bring the creditors into the case, and give you the option to push them to the appropriate schedules.

Does BankruptcyPRO handle ECF Filing, if so to what extent is it automated?

BankruptcyPRO can absolutely handle your ECF filing. On a new, complete case, all the information is uploaded automatically. For additional forms, the program has helpful features but it is not so automatic as the initial filing since every court handles their ECF interface independently.

How many years have you been in business?

LegalPRO Systems, Inc. was founded in 1985. Early on, there was actually a DOS version of the software. In November 1997, the first Windows version of BankruptcyPRO was published. We have been continually adding features (both required and requested) since that time. We strive to be responsive to our clients, i.e., we do take requests.

How is your software different from that of your competitors?

In regard to comparing our program with others, of course we think BankruptcyPRO is the best. We have many case management features in BankruptcyPRO. If your jurisdiction allows Federal exemptions in addition to state exemptions, we provide a side-by-side numerical comparison.

There is a built-in word processor/merge capability called FlashDOCS® (included in the license) so you can create your own in-house forms using data already entered in your cases, without having to use a separate word processing program.

Used in conjunction with I-Got-Notices® (our ECF mail program) and DoingTIME® (our time and expense/flat fee billing program), you have a law office management suite of products. All the programs stand alone, and they all work together as well.

And one answer without a question:

In addition to providing excellent software, we take great pains to make sure our clients get live support. Our support staff is available weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. CST. We invite you to call with any questions about using any of our the program(s). We do respond by e-mail if you prefer, but those are live humans responding as well.
